NAC to make its presence felt

The National Academy of Construction (NAC), Hyderabad, has trained 27,275 personnel in construction practises last year while increasing its training centres from 27 to 120. With a training target of 50,000 for this year, the academy has imparted construction skills to more than 8,200 persons.

The trades offered include masonry, bar-bending and steel fixing, plumbing and sanitation, formwork carpentry, electrical house wiring, painter and decorator, welding, and skill upgradation for pump operators and plumbers.

The other middle level trades taken up here include general works supervisor, land surveyor, construction store keeper, architectural assistantship, cabinet-making, curtain-making, basics of computers and MS Office apart from vocational training in electrical trade, plumbing and sanitation.

To meet the targets, the NAC raised its teaching staff strength from 181 to 474 and formed a placement cell.

In association with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, the NAC has taken up P.G. Diploma programmes in Facility Management, Building Technology, Construction Project Management and Highway Technology.
