National mission for enhanced energy efficiency
National mission for enhanced energy efficiency will set up as part of the National action plan for Climate change.
It is expected to save 10,000 MW by the end of 2012. To enhance energy efficiency four initiatives will be put in place.
These are one, market based mechanism to enhance energy efficiency through certification. Two, accelerate the shift to energy efficient appliances in designated sectors.
Three, create mechanisms to help finance demand side management. Fourth, develop fiscal instruments to promote energy efficiency.
