Revenue Tower ready in Kochi

The view of one of India’s finest natural harbours from the tip of the Vembanadu backwaters is the unique selling proposition the Kerala State Housing Board (KSHB) is using to promote the Revenue Tower, 15 years in the making, that was dedicated to the State here on Friday.

Built on nearly an acre of land close to the Marine Drive, one of India’s premium real property addresses, the Revenue Tower has been long in coming and often drew public attention for several reasons. The total expenditure involved in building the tower has been nearly Rs.26 crore, according to the KSHB.

The Revenue Tower is a landmark building in the heart of the commercial capital of Kerala that is now touching a new growth trajectory with investments worth several thousand crores of rupees on the horizon.

The Housing Board wants to catch this new wave of growth to sell the property, which has space earmarked for various purposes. The basement floor has an area of 1,699 sq.m. The ground, first, second and third floors put together have a total area of around 5,300 sq.m.

According to the plan, there are 40 shops on the basement floor, eight shops and parking area on the ground floor and 39 shops each on the first and second floors. The third floor is reserved for a world-class food court. The rest, up to the 12th floor, have been earmarked for office space.

The shop spaces can be combined to suit the requirements of the businesses concerned. Given the current wave of growth in the consumer industry, shops for electronics goods, jewellery, cosmetics and lifestyle items and beauty shops are likely to be in the forefront.

An official of KSHB said that space allotments had just started.
