Heritage value: From flour mill to luxury houses
Excellence Award for Prestige
India Inc. scored yet another point with the Prestige Group being one of the winners of the coveted Prix D’Excellence Awards 2009 at Beijing recently. The FIABCI awards recognise the best in the global property development arena. Prestige Elgin, a landmark property in Bangalore from the Prestige Group, won this distinction in the Heritage (Restoration) category.
“This is the Group’s third FIABCI award that came in after a keen contest,” said Uzma Irfan, Director, Corporate Communications, Prestige Group. The other winners include Heart of Love River, Taiwan, in the Environmental category; Orchard Scotts from Singapore in the Residential category; The St. Regis Singapore, in the Hotel category; Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in the Retail category; and Federation Tower, Russia, in the Office category.
Prestige Elgin is a distinctive red brick structure which was originally the Elgin Flour Mills. The structure on Hosur Road was earlier a landmark on Bangalore’s south-eastern exit route. The imposing edifice was redeveloped into a premium residential complex retaining the original building’s distinct character.
Best residential development
Elita Promenade, Keppel Puravankara’s first residential project in Bangalore, has bagged the “Best Development Award” in the residential category of the Asia-Pacific Property Awards. The award recognises the best in the region and is organised under the auspices of the International Property Awards.
Stuart Shield, Chairman, International Property Awards, said, “There were hundreds of entries, and Elita Promenade was chosen for its quality, luxury and finesse.” Designed by architect RSP, the 1,573-unit freehold condominium showcases its endeavour in master planning, architecture, landscaping, and amenities.
Peter Chew, CEO, India & Middle East, Keppel Land, said, “This award is testament to our efforts in developing premium homes that meet the needs of discerning homebuyers.”
Jointly developed by Singapore-based Keppel Land Limited and Bangalore’s premier real estate developer, Puravankara Projects Ltd., Elita Promenade is designed to take advantage of natural light and abundant greenery. The development boasts of water bodies, landscape, an indoor heated swimming pool, a bowling alley and a decorated clubhouse.
The annual International Property Awards is open to residential and commercial property professionals globally. The awards will be presented on July 16, 2009 at The Marina Mandarin Hotel in Singapore.
