Spacescape
Simplicity in architecture is easy on the eye and easy to create once it is conceived clearly. Take this shimmering reading corner, for instance. It was arrived at without spending much money at all.
Shivakumar, whose house sports this reading corner, developed this space from a window ledge. He merely extended a portion of the wall framing the window just about a feet and half to the outside, so that he was left with a vertical cuboid of space that has its base at seating level.
He threw in a made-to-order mattress and bolsters on the floor of this ledge, cane or thatti blinds for the window, a spotlight for reading and a small fan mounted on the wall opposite to it, to complete the space.
It virtually cost him nothing to arrive at this cozy and sunlit reading corner that allows him to look out and glance at the sky in between turning pages of a book.
If privacy is what you desire, you can draw up the cane thatti, and it would still leave you with a lot of light (during day time) to read your book.
