Swept along by Kochi

As Kochi grows by leaps and bounds, the neighbouring towns flourish. North Paravur is one such town which benefits from the development of the city.

Several real-estate groups have taken the cue and have launched residential projects in the town. Its expanding population has a taste for modern life.

The companies say North Paravur is a northern entry point to Ernakulam, bordering Thrissur district. From there, towns such as Kodungalloor, Mala, and Chalakkudy in Thrissur and Kalamasserry, Aluva, Angamaly, and Vypeen in Ernakulam are easily accessible. National Highway 17 passing through the town is a major connectivity option.

Infinity Builders & Property Developers, a real-estate group based in the town, has taken up construction of premium villas in the heart of the town. Twenty-one villas, each on 4.5-6 cents of land, are on offer. A few are in the final stages of completion, and the remaining will be constructed in a time-bound manner, Jayaram, director of the company, says.

Housing needs

The villa project was launched after assessing the housing needs in the town on the basis of a demand survey. The site is about 400 metres from the highway, 13 km from the Nedumbasserry airport, nine km from the Aluva railway station, 16 km from the Edapally bypass, and four km from the Cherai beach, he says hinting at the possibilities for onward connections. The villas are priced in the range of Rs.50-75 lakh. The demand for premium villas is not high but is expected to pick up, Mr. Jayaraj says. Since affordability has a major impact on the marketing of residential projects, several builders are planning apartments for the middle class. They have received building permits and are preparing to launch projects in the town and nearby areas, he says. North Paravur is a good destination for those who want to settle down in an idyllic location, easily accessible to places of commercial importance such as Kochi, Aluva, Angamaly, Thrissur, and beyond, says Jincy Thomas, marketing executive of My Hamlet, an apartment project at Chendamangalam, a few kilometres from the town. The project offers 20 medium-sized apartments, priced at Rs.18 lakh and above.
