An Ode to Food

Utsav offers variety to the veggie food lovers. One meal at Utsav is enough to drive out the wrong notion that vegetarian food lacks in variety.

UTSAV, that’s the name and it truly is an ode to vegetarian food. It’s a typical celebration of vegetarianism, the Indian way. Located in Secunderabad, the restaurant has been dishing out some of the finest vegetarian fare for the past seven years, in the process accumulating a vast customer base. And yes, most of its customers are regulars and have remained faithful to Utsav since long. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner fare with buffet being available during lunch time. The dinner time is purely an ala carte affair. The biggest selling factor of Utsav is the mind-boggling variety that’s on offer. To put it simply, it’s a haven for the Indian food loving veggie.

Talking about the eatery’s fame, Mr. Dilip, its General Manager says “We are way ahead of others both quantitatively and qualitatively. We serve the finest Indian food over 160 covers which gives us a head start. Moreover, we offer variety to the veggie food lovers. One meal at Utsav is enough to drive out the wrong notion that vegetarian food lacks in variety. We host four different food festivals per year. Our Punjabi, Rajasthani, Gujarati and Marwari food festivals always receive thundering response. We also take care to overhaul our regular menu twice a year which again is a value addition.” The array of prestigious awards on its spacious shelves is an indicator of its excellence.

The décor is expansive and slightly on the opulent side. Lot of silk panels have been used for that grand facade. Furniture is more about wood and glass. Steel is used to impart that glossy look. The fountain in the centre is an added attraction and has a soothing effect. Over all, the ambience is bright and boasts of a rich texture.

The food is expectedly tasty and laced with a wholesome, full bodied flavor which is typically north Indian. The variety is huge and choosing can be an onerous task. Tomato dhania shorba is a good spicy soup to kick off followed by corn-65 and lal mirch paneer tikka as starters. Paneer chatpat and methi chaman hariyali are good main course options which can be teamed with cheese garlic parathas and mutter paneer parathas. Kashmiri pulao and dum subz biryani are the best options from the rice bowl. The dessert section is slightly an ordinary affair offering the routine qubani ka meetha and chocolate mousse along with other regular dishes. A meal for two would cost around Rs.400/- approximately.

For all you fans of vegetarian food which is spicy and tasty, watch out for Utsav’s Punjabi food festival that’s soon going to kick off in a day or two.
