If you are bored with common plants, try out cactus for an exotic look. Easy maintenance makes it appealing to many. So, how would you ensure that your cactus is always fresh and blooming? Read on for useful tips

Are the drooping leaves of your potted plant depressing you? Cactus is the way to go! Of late, the humble cactus is now omnipresent replacing exotic flora from countries yonder. But wait a minute! Is cactus as hard to maintain as it is made out to be? Not really! If you follow the handy tips given below, you would find that cactus is an easy plant to grow in your houses.

Starting with the basics, where would you usually keep your cactus plant? Says Kashmira a Feng Shui expert, “Cactus usually signifies protection and more often than not, is kept outside the home.” The cactus plant is best suited for your balcony or your terrace gardens. “Cactus is thorny, so it is believed that when they are kept inside, they might sour the relationships,” adds Kashmira.

Cactus plants can easily be kept within the confines of your home, even if you don’t believe in Feng Shui. If there is enough light in your house, the cactus will gracefully grow and bloom within the confines of the home. Cactus can survive with less water but it should not be let to dry up completely. Just as with any other plant, the cactus needs nutrients and water to thrive. If placed outside, the cactus needs to be watered every two or three days but indoor cactus need to be watered minimally, depending on the dryness of the surroundings.

Cactus is sin fact becoming a preferred choice for many who wish to add a unique yet green touch to their homes. Says Lekha Aravind, a communications student who dabbles with interiors, “I find cactus plants very easy to maintain, especially in hot weather.” What makes the humble cactus so appealing is the easy maintenance. Additionally, the plant adds an exotic and distinctive look. So, the next time you want to bring a dash of green into your home but want to give it a different touch, then the spiky cactus is the way to go!
