Your take on fashion?
“I had always thought fashion to be a comfort statement. But now I feel it’s a lot more than that. It’s all about your attitude and the confidence with which you carry off any attire. You can pull of an alluring appearance even with a white T-shirt with blue jeans, if you have the right mindset. The fits are also crucial.
‘In’ looks for the sweltering summers?
Yellow is the color of the summer. For Indian wear, very traditional designs with Gotta or Zardosi work and metallic sequences are hot buys. Bright, bold, colours with sheer bottoms and dupattas are the picks of this season. The preferred Western designs include printed satin fabrics in radiant yellows and soft oranges.
From the designer perspective, what are the colours and fabrics you endorse?
I love working with white, red and navy blue. Besides these, the pastel shades appeal to me. Materials like chiffon, net and lycra are my usual favorites.
Getting accessorised?
Multicoloured stones, crystals and zari work on all accessories, from jewellery to handbags, are growing popular. Pearl drops never go out of fashion. I will also soon be introducing my own line of accessories.
Something for yourself?
I’ve been wearing a lot of plains of late. You’ll find me in off-whites, beiges and browns with brightly coloured patterns and motifs. It’s mostly casuals or semi-formals that I enjoy being in.
