Retail Plus catches up with the talented actor Vincent Asokan. Find out what brands make this star tick
|
Whether he’s playing the part of a threatening thug or that of an elite male lead, Vincent Asokan does it with panache. The care he takes for personal styling is not missed on the silver screen and is mirrored by his exclusive tastes. When asked about where he puts his wardrobe together, Vincent says, “Armani Exchange and the Spanish brand, Zara are my favourites. I love shopping in Singapore for my outfits. Elephant designer jackets top my list for formal wear. Most of my apparel is created by ace-designer Chaitanya Rao or my wife, Tina Vincent, who designs my workout and casual clothing. As for colours, it’s blacks with a splatter of whites for me.”
The metrosexual male is never satisfied by mere garment outfitting alone and Vincent seems to be no exception to this fact, as he reveals his passion for accessories. “For shades and belts, it’s got to be Prada!” he says. “I pay a lot of attention to the details like buckle design when it comes to buying belts.” Watches are quite apparently a fetish for Vincent, who gushes, “Longiness and Patek Phillipe, leading Swiss watch manufacturers are my trusted timekeepers, which also define style and elegance.”
Although he is not too swayed by gadgets, Vincent is reasonably interested in them. “I’m into music systems big time and have a Bosch Home Theatre, but would like to graduate from that,” he says. He carries a Nokia Express Music edition mobile phone.
While talking about what he would gift his wife, he muses, “ I think it’ll have to be something under the Mango brand or Zara for her.” He admits that he is a rather adventurous shopper and enjoys exploring new brands and categories. When asked to recount any memorable shopping experiences, Vincent smiles, “No isolated incidents as such, but I mostly overstep the limit when I’m out on a shopping spree and need to make calls to my credit card company to stretch the limit a bit every time. In the end, I have just about enough to buy himself a last cup of coffee, but it‘s all in good fun!”
