The Extravaganza called

After designer attire, designer homes, designer cars and even designer lifestyles, it’s now the turn of designer weddings to storm peoples’ imagination! Our very own Hyderabad is now being gripped by the designer wedding fever.

WEDDINGS were always extravagant affairs in India, so much so that, big fat Indian weddings are known the world over for their glitz and opulence. Indians were always known to be big time spenders when it came to weddings. It’s very common for us to witness or hear about weddings planned on lavish scales with money flowing like water. Hyderabad too has witnessed its own set of swish weddings where people compete to out do each other in spending. Everything from the attire, jewellery and ambience to the food, return gifts and entertainment, is draped in style, class and opulence. The eagerness of people to spare no efforts and resources in creating unique, rich and classy wedding experiences has given birth to a new breed of professionals who thrive on this trend.

Wedding planners as they are called are the latest must haves on every wedding family’s wish list. They specialize in arranging weddings which are unique, theme based and classy affairs. “It’s not just about saying ‘I DO’. It’s about style and class. People want weddings to be memorable affairs with huge recall value. That’s where we step in offering professional wedding planning services. We arrange everything right from the pandal to the food and entertainment. It’s more of a risk offsetting mechanism which guarantees peace of mind to the hosts. We ensure smooth, classy affairs leaving no scope for complaints from any side” quips Rahul of Channel 9 Events which specializes in wedding planning.

Talking about the latest trends prevailing in the city, he adds “People want novelty and convenience to go hand in hand. Weddings involve a lot of guests often with varied needs and tastes. Guests look forward to having a good time. It includes food, entertainment and overall ambience. Creating a perfect setting is a herculean task and calls for meticulous planning and that’s where we step in. we offer a wide range of packages basically aimed at taking the load off the hosts. Theme based weddings are a rage in the city now. Colour based themes, Geographical themes like Arabian theme, Egyptian theme and others are in demand too. Recently we executed an under-water theme that proved to be a major hit. Like wise the food and drink arrangements too are made accordingly. Taste, variety and hygiene are the prime factors when it comes to food. Nowadays people are keen on start to finish projects where the wedding planners are expected to carry a wedding entirely on their shoulders.”

Celebrity performances are also in high demand as is evident in the recent trend. People seem to be inspired by personalities like L N Mittal who famously flew in Shah Rukh to dance in his daughter’s wedding, adding a new chapter in the Indian wedding jamboree. Quoting the same, Rahul says “People ask us for celebrity DJs, dancing stars and other performers just to add that extra value to weddings. Orchestra bands are also in high demand. Sometimes we even get requests for roping in celebrities just as guests. People are willing to pay these celebrities just for gracing the occasion.” On being asked whether the process of hiring professional wedding planners would be a costly affair, he quickly retorts “No. it’s just not an expensive affair contrary to the popular perception. We just charge about 10-15% of the total expense as our fee which is highly affordable. The industry trend too is no different. Initially only the upper classes would solicit our services. But now the trend is changing fast as middle and upper middle classes are also seeking professional wedding arrangement services. Affordability is highly crucial to this sector and the industry is responding positively.”

Wedding planning is not a cake walk though. It involves meticulous planning, creativity and total commitment. “The minute we get a call, we are committed. Starting from cards, attire, menu and post wedding events like honeymoon trips, everything is creatively conceived and executed. Normally, the clothes of the bride and groom are coordinated with the décor.

Typical wedding services include selection of invitations/printing/couriering them to various destinations and addresses, fixing up the wedding hall, catering (all kinds of cuisine), entertainment (like light music, instrumental, any region/religion specific programmes), gifts for the relatives and others, logistics (like pick-up/drop at various places within the city and outside, hotel/air tickets/train tickets booking and honeymoon trip arrangements (within India and overseas, as a complete package). Organizing theme weddings in exotic locations (like the weddings arranged on board of Virgo cruise, Udaipur Palace in Rajasthan, Goan beach side or any other location across the world) is also a service that’s being offered.

So if you too want to plan a wedding in style a-la Raveena Tandon (palace wedding in Rajasthan), or Arun Nayyar-Liz Hurley (again a palace wedding) or Vinisha Mittal (too opulent and mammoth to describe), then sit back and chill, while your wedding planner does all the work.

And if you are on the look out for wedding planners, then dial Channel 9 Events on 9885050703 or 9247208208.
