OF the many new retail outlets springing up in Karkhana, the building that houses Reliance Fresh, Reliance Wellness, Godrej Life Space and Delight Non Vegetarian Foods, is a stop that would be of convenient interest to both casual shoppers and ardent homemakers. For this stop, located in the building just beside the Pulla Reddy Sweets building in Karkhana, is a one stop depot for almost every household need, sans clothes.
Delight Non Vegetarian Foods is a little store in the corner of the first floor that sells exclusively non-vegetarian products. It doesn’t give you the feeling of being in a butcher’s, but rather a store that markets meat, corporate style. The prices here are in keeping with the conventional prices at other meat stores, the difference being: a great emphasis on hygiene. Chicken, mutton and sea food are sold, both raw and as well as in the ready-to-eat form.
Reliance Fresh is your standard, commercialized supermarket - something that every urban dweller has become familiar with for delivering quality and convenience. So there’s nothing very new about that. Reliance Wellness on the other hand, is quite a revelation to a curious passer by walking in for the first time. As soon as you walk in, your visual senses are buffeted with a plethora of products that are all meant for the welfare of the body. A considerable range of fitness equipment, fitness supplements, health bars, nutritional tonics and host of other products are available for the modern fitness freak to engage in. The rather impressive pharmacy has the standard medicines available anywhere else, and also some special products such as vitamins, gluco-meters and body fat meters. Skip over to the beauty section and you’ll see products that help you (as they promise) defy the ageing process and look more beautiful. Especially notable, is the wide range of skin care products, some general and some specific. And if Fitness and beauty are not enough for your ‘wellness’, then there’s a section that has CD’s and books on yoga, meditation, dieting and exercise. Then there are things like Polaroid sunglasses and fancy brushes or combs, that the impulsive shopper is sure to buy.
Next, attention all newly weds in the vicinity looking to fill your house with useful furniture and/or appliances! Godrej Lifespace – The Home and Interior Store (above the Reliance stores), is just the place for you to visit. Lifespace sells furniture that fits the modern as well as classic mould. Well, it is not exactly plush Italian furniture, but it is very good looking stuff and of high quality as well. On display are sofas, couches, recliners, coffee tables and shelves - all for the living room. The dinning tables of various designs and seating capacities are sure to make your dinning experience a stylish one. For the bedroom, there are single beds, bunk beds, king size beds, steel and wooden wardrobes and also a nice range of bed linens to go with the mattresses and pillows. Full range office furniture – tables, chairs, desks and cupboards – can help create your office environment in one buy. As far as appliances go, this may not be an exclusive showroom, yet a good number of models of air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators and microwaves from Godrej are for sale. And if you so choose to keep your assets locked away at home, there are some impenetrable, solid steel safes – both manual and digital – you can buy to fill the secret alcove in the wall!
