Mom’s cooking is the best
|
This star cricketer tells us that he is not a foodie; and shares what his favourite dishes are…
|
Our guest this week is the tall, shy and charming Lakshmipathy Balaji. He is a role model for many children today and his contribution to Indian cricket has made him the darling of Chennai. We caught up with this young lad when he is ready to make a comeback as a Chennai Super King to discuss… no not cricket, but how much of a foodie he is.
A FOODIE?
“I don’t think I can call myself a foodie because my mom always complains that I don’t eat well,” he says with a smile, “but I enjoy what I eat.”
WHAT HE ENJOYS MOST...
His mom’s cooking. He loves to spend time at home when he is in Chennai (since he gets very little time with his family). He loves his mother’s Thakkali Sadam (tomato rice), sambar and channa. “These are her specialities,” he says.
ON EATING OUT...
“I love to go out with my friends. We try out new places and enjoy an evening together,” he says, adding, “I enjoy traditional Indian food and I like to try out food from other states but I am not a fan of world cuisine.”
HIS REGULAR HAUNTS...
Sangeetha in R.A.Puram, Vrindavan at New Woodlands (for the special thali), Ente Keralam, Coastline and the good old Drive-inn (an unforgettable haunt for almost all Chennaiites, one that many of us will miss now that we have to say goodbye).
FAVOURITE DISH...
Prawns, he likes them best at Ente Keralam and Anjappar. He loves poories and dosas but unfortunately his diet chart doesn’t!
WHEN IT’S CELEBRATION TIME...
He enjoys going out with his friends at The Crown - the roof top restaurant at The Residency Towers or at the Kabab Factory in Hotel Radisson.
These places appeal to him because they have a great combination of good food, perfect ambience and friendly service.
