JUNK food!!
The buzz word amongst the youth. Road side and pavement food has always had its own charm and attracts many passer bys and hungry tummies. The hygiene of such outlets is debatable though now there is more awareness and the use of disposable products has minimised the risks to a large extent. With the sunrays hitting hard making u fret and sweat, the best, most refreshing and a smart stop would be a fruit juice store. Hydration is the only weapon against dehydration. Instead of sipping on carbonated and fizzy drinks fresh fruit juices is a healthy option. Undoubtedly, it is the best way to regain your lost energy and rejuvenate yourself from fatigue or to just get lost in the feeling of the fruit pulp going down your throat.
“Every time I have even just one glass of sugarcane juice it makes me feel good and it makes me want to have more and this is one sure stop for me everyday before I go out to play and it is not something that will burn a hole in my pocket money too” said Abhi Teja, a student. The literally ‘real’ juice enriches every cell of your body with the required nutrients, flushes out all that is not required and replaces all that the harsh sun sucks out of you. Though there is nothing that can beat a glass of chilled water.
From quenching thirst to replenishing body’s lost fluids, water is nature’s most valuable gift. A glass of fresh lime will do you wonders, especially after a long and hot day of work or even shopping. Like your vehicle needs fuel to run, so does the body needs fluids; fruit juices or tender coconut water can make the difference. For every mile, the city has at least one stop and go fruit juice point, more like a fuel station for your body.
Bindu says “nothing can match the taste of tender coconut water and then the soft and delicious coconut inside. It is more like a treasure hunt once you are done with the water you have the key to the malai. It feels heavenly when it just melts in your mouth”. Tender coconut water is more than 100% hygienic and is loaded with nutrients.
Buttermilk is another healthy and a natural way to cool yourself and hydrate. It is surprising that ‘butter’ milk doesn’t have butter in it and is much lower in fat than sweet milk. It is the most ancient and still widely recommended drink in summers. Most of us don’t get close to the recommended 9 to 13 eight-ounce glasses of water per day. We’d have to program ourselves to drink one glass every hour of the traditional work day. Even for the most enticing beverage in the world, that would be a chore. And fruit juices are a delicious replacement to water.
A fruit shop owner Ganesh says “we have at least eight to ten customers every hour coming to this place and having their favorite pick of fruit juice. Recession has not affected us in the negative way but has brought us more profit with more people now coming to smaller stores. We serve fresh squeezed fruit juices in disposable glasses and any fruit juice is for just Rs 10”. Though torrential rains have lashed most parts of South India, we are still in the throes of the hot summer. Whether it is to quench your thirst or for a celebration, a cool refreshing drink is always welcome in summer.
Juices not only help in overcoming fatigue but also boost energy and work wonders in a state of dehydration.
Don’t forget to Stop! Refresh and Go!
