What's the buzz in tinsel town? The very same Kollywood, the box office that makes or breaks careers, where fame could be instant; failure is instant as well. We dive into the heart of the industry, the men and women of the big screen world who also support and drive branding in retail.
Two of Tollywood's super heroes Nagarjuna and Siddharth have made successful Kollywood comebacks. King Nag's recently released Tamil-Telugu bi-lingual Payanam that has impressed the audiences with its taut screenplay and cast has happened after his last Kollywood outing for Ratchagan in 1996. Similarly Siddharth is playing an NRI doctor's role in 180-Rules Kidaiyathu directed by his mentor P. Jayendra, after a gap of seven years.
This seems to be the time for similar sounding titles in Tamil cinema. With Shankar's 3 Idiots' remake Nanban in the making, another film with Nakul and Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj in the lead roles has been launched with the title Nanba. Also, Arya-Maddy starrer Vettai is closely followed up by Vettai Mannan with the Simbu-Jai combo. Is it the success sentiment or special affection for certain titles that has sparked the trend?
