Mortality in guinea fowls

I have a flock of about 50 guinea fowls. Recently the birds seem to be dying suddenly in heavy numbers. What is the reason for the sudden mortality of the birds?

C. KANNABHIRAN
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu

Guinea fowls, though hardy by nature, are susceptible to bacterial, round worm and ranikhet infections. Ranikhet infection is usually prevalent among a large flock kept in confinement. You may contact the nearest veterinary and animal health department in your area to know the exact cause of mortality of your birds.
