FARM QUERIES

Making land fertile

The soil in my land is highly laterite in nature with white clayey content. Is there any way to make the soil fertile?

K. Jiji Panicker Kundara
Chengannur, Kerala

Add sufficient quantities of well rotten farmyard manure to the topsoil. You may also dig small pits in the area and dump your household wastes such as vegetable leaves into the pit and cover them. You may also release earthworms (available with organic farmers) into the land.
