FARM QUERIES

Rat problem

Is there any environmentally friendly method to control rat problem in my paddy fields? Rat baits and poison simply do not seem to work.

P. Ashwat Kurien

Palghat, Kerala

You can try mixing maize flour, sugar and cement (sometimes white cement) and leave the mixture in places where rats are found. For the first two or three days mix only the maize and sugar and after the third day mix the cement along with it. Rats will die after eating this mixture.
