Versatile vaccine

COMBATING INFLUENZA: Tetsuya Uchida, chief scientist at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan, and his team have developed a versatile vaccine that they claim could work on multiple influenza viruses and possibly protect against a pandemic of the deadly bird flu. Uchida said that his research team has successfully prevented mice from developing symptoms when exposed to three influenza viruses, including the H5N1 strain.
