Volcanic eruption as seen from ISS in orbit

A fortuitous orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) allowed this striking view of Sarychev Volcano (Kuril Islands) in an early stage of eruption. Sarychev is one of the most active volcanoes in the Kuril Island chain.
