Unripened Chikoo for bloat

Is it true that unripe Chikkoo can be used to treat bloat in animals?

Alfred Thomas

Goa

A farmer, Mr. Veermanbhai Mehramanbhai, Parmar district, Junagadh has learnt the following practice from his father and has been practising it for long. Animal suffering from bloat has a distended stomach which sounds like a drum when tapped lightly. The animal tends to be dull and loses appetite. Mr. Veermanbhai takes three unripe chikoos, cuts them into small pieces and mixes them in one litre of water and keeps for half an hour. He then gives it to the animal twice a day. This causes loose motion and the animal gets relief from the bloat.
