FARM QUERIES

Inducing resistance to seeds

Is there any method to induce resistance from disease and infestations to paddy seeds before sowing?

C. Srinivasa Reddy

Nellore, Andhra Pradesh

Dilute one litres of cow’s urine in about five litres of water. Take paddy seeds required for an acre and tie them into several small bundles and dip them in the solution for half an hour. Then dry the seeds under shade before sowing. By this method several farmers have been able to record that the seeds become more resistant to infestations and pest attacks.
