Weed growth in rice

I am growing rice through (SRI) systematic rice intensification in my land in West Bengal. I find the growth of weeds are more especially during the monsoon. Is there any simple way I can control the weed growth?

You can spread dry paddy straw (called hay) in between the planted saplings. This will act as a effective weed suppressant. You can also try spreading Jatropha leaves. But care should be taken to see that only the leaves are spread and not the stems, as jatropha will immediately start developing rooting system in the soil.
