 Laloo arrested, vows to continue struggle
A Rashtriya Janata Dal activist was killed when the RJD-sponsored Bihar bandh called today against the ``unconstitutional'' installation of Mr. Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister by the Governor, Mr. V. C. Pande, turned violent. The RJD president, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, along with several supporters was arrested for violating prohibitory orders.

Pakistan has reportedly beefed up its forces close to the Rann of Kutch area in Gujarat to target India's shore- based industry more effectively.

Attempt on Minister

Final touches being given to Clinton visit
The Indian Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Naresh Chandra, will be meeting the National Security Adviser, Mr. Sandy Berger, and the Chief of the White House Staff, Mr. John Podesta, on Wednesday to finalise the U.S. President, Mr.Bill Clinton's visit to India between March 20 and 25.

Bihar Govt. will prove majority: Fernandes
The Defence Minister and Samata Party president, Mr. George Fernandes, has said that the new National Democratic Alliance Government in Bihar would prove its majority during the vote of confidence in the Assembly on March 9.

'Subrahmanyam panel not for action'
The Defence Minister, Mr. George Fernandes, has ruled out taking any action against any Defence official in the wake of the report of the Subrahmanyam Committee, which went into the handling of the Kargil conflict.

Laloo takes U-turn on Jharkhand
In an apparent bid to woo pro-Jharkhand legislators, the RJD president, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, today took a U-turn on the Vanachal issue promising that his party would not oppose the creation of a separate State out of Bihar.

All-party meet on RSS issue
The Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. G.M.C. Balayogi, tonight said he has called an all-party meeting in Delhi tomorrow to end the impasse in the Lok Sabha over the RSS issue.
