'Al Umma not involved in Bangalore blast'
By Our Staff Reporter
COIMBATORE, JULY 13. No activist or sympathiser of the proscribed
Al Umma is involved in the explosion in a Maruti van at Bangalore
on Sunday, according to information reaching the Coimbatore
police.
Police sources said here on Thursday that there was no evidence
that the organisation was involved in the blast, which is now
suspected to be the handiwork of some other group. The Coimbatore
and Bangalore police have been in touch with each other.
Consequently, a rumour that one of those killed in the blast was
``Tailor'' Raja, one of the absconding accused in the serial
blast case, has turned out to be false. To double-check the
information, a team of Coimbatore police has visited Bangalore.
