German shot dead in HP
SHIMLA, JULY 13. A German national was shot dead, while another
received serious bullet injuries when locals fired at them at a
camp near Hampta pass in a remote area of Manali on Wednesday,
police said today.
The superintendent of police, Kullu, Mr. Anurag Garg said the
dead foreigner was yet to be identified. His injured companion
had been identified as Mazier. Information about the shoot out
and the injured person was given by an American tourist Mr.
Admley. The place was far away from Manali, requiring 12 hours to
reach the spot.
Rescue operations had been launched and a helicopter was
requisitioned to bring the injured person and the dead body. The
services of the East-West Rescue Group had also been sought.
Details of the incident were awaited as no direct contact had so
far been established, but the German embassy in New Delhi had
been informed. The embassy was reported to have given the green
signal to the rescue plans.
