Film Review: ''Garden of Eden''

A LOVE story on celluloid. But the film is not as lively as it should be. Mainly because the director has not added interesting incidents in the screenplay.

A mother wants to become rich. Her son is against her wishes and leaves her. He sees a beautiful girl, named Alexandra, who refuses the overtures of all the boys. The son lures her by asking whether she is interested in an old vase with beautiful colours. She accepts to see it and goes with him. But he takes her to an isolated place where she stays with him for several days. For them the climate is lovely with a beautiful beach and nobody to disturb them. But in the city of Rome, the parents of Alexandra, a shattered lot, search for their daughter and complain to the police.

Meanwhile the elder brother of Alexandra's lover comes to the place where the two are living happily, and tries to rape Alexandra. He does not succeed in his attempt but takes her footwear and rushes back home and tells his mother that they would become rich soon. He talks to Alexandra's father and asks for ransom for the safe return of their daughter. He gets the money and tries to bring his brother's share to him in the isolated place where he is living with Alexandra. The police are on his trail and the climax follows.

The camera is handled by Clavio Moravito and the costumes are designed by Annamode Brunoe Mario. The lead stars have performed well and the film is directed by Yasuzo Masumura.
