Govt. to cut holding in banks to 33 p.c.
The Union Cabinet today cleared the proposal to reduce the Government's equity holding in nationalised banks from 51 per cent to 33 per cent, disregarding the one-day strike on Wednesday by bank employees against the ``privatisation'' of public sector banks.

Divorce Act to be amended
The Union Cabinet today decided to amend the Indian Divorce Act of 1869 to end outdated and discriminatory provisions against Christian women.

Hero's welcome to Rajkumar
A hero's welcome was accorded by a jubilant Bangalore to the Kannada actor, Mr. Rajkumar, when he flew to the City today after having been held captive in the forests by the brigand Veerappan, for 108 days.
