VHP plans 'yajna' at Ayodhya
By Our Staff Correspondent
UDUPI, JULY 1. Mr. Baburao Desai, Secretary of the Vishwa Hindu
Parishad (VHP), said today that a ``Mahapoornahuti Yajna'' would
be held at Ayodhya from January next.
He told presspersons here that 13 crores ``Rama mantra'' would be
chanted in 10,000 towns or ``siddhakshetras'' in the country from
September 17. Nearly 2,000 persons would participate in chanting
the mantra in every ``siddhakshetra''. At the end of chanting,
``purnahuti yajnas'' would be held at important temple centres.
The ``Ramanama yatras'' and ``satsangs'' would be held for 65
days.
The Mahapurnahuti Yajna would be held at Ayodhya after the
``Avrata snana'' in the Sarayu. Every province would participate
in turns at the Mahapurnahuti Yajna. About 20,000 devotees would
visit Ayodhya every day during this period. About 22 lakh
volunteers would be recruited for the Bajrang Dal. About one lakh
volunteers would be enrolled in Karnataka. A padayatra of saints
and swamis would start from Ayodhya on January 21 and culminate
in New Delhi on January 27.
He said the Centre should clear the obstacles for the
construction of the Ram temple before Mahashivaratri next year.
Saints would decide the date for the construction of the temple
around Mahashivaratri. The courts could decide only about the
land for the Ram Temple, they could not decide about the
birthplace of Ram. There was no connection between the BJP and
the VHP. If the Union Government was embarrassed by the VHP's
programme, the VHP could not help it.
A ``jalabhisheka'' would be performed in Shiva temples of the
country to mark the 50th anniversary of construction of the
Somanath Temple, he added.
Mr. Venkataramana Bhat and Mr. Vasanth Bhat, office- bearers of
VHP, were present.
