Attack on Jaya TV crew condemned

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JULY 2. The Madras Reporters Guild (MRG) has condemned three recent incidents of assault on members of the `Jaya TV' crew, including one in front of the DMK President, Mr. M. Karunanidhi's Oliver Road residence on July 1, when the NDA convener, Mr. George Fernandes, visited the house.

Expressing shock and anguish over such incidents, the president, Mr. R. Rangaraj, in a statement here, said the question of safety of mediapersons assumed serious proportions. The guild called for tolerance which ``is the only way a healthy democracy can function''.
