I don't want police security, says Karunanidhi
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, JULY 4. The former Chief Minister, Mr. M. Karunanidhi,
today asked for withdrawal of his police security guards, saying
they had only watched helplessly during his arrest (in the wee
hours of Saturday).
In a letter to the State Home Secretary, written from the Central
prison, Mr. Karunanidhi said he wanted to end the ``double game''
of some ``police beasts'' threatening his life and the modesty of
women members of his family, on the one hand, and a couple of
innocent security guards who could do nothing to stop such
behaviour, on the other.
Therefore, he did not want police security, he said.
The police had ill-treated him on the night of his arrest without
any consideration for his health or age, he alleged.
