Pondy poll roll to be updated continuously

PONDICHERRY, JULY 9. The Pondicherry Elections Department has introduced continuous updating to enable all eligible voters to get their names enrolled.

In a communication here, the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. B. Ramaswamy, said the voter list for all 30 Assembly segments was published on April 23. But those intending to have their names included or those who would like to have their names deleted, or those who want to make correction of certain entries can file the applications in prescribed forms available in the office of the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) or Assistant Electoral Registration officers (AEROs).

Those who attained 18 years as on January 1 this year and those who shifted their residence can avail themselves of this opportunity. Furnishing of false information is punishable with imprisonment for one year or a fine or both.

The Director of Local Administration is the ERO for the Muthialpet, Cassicade, Rajbhavan and Lawspet constituencies. The Pondicherry tashildar is his AERO. The Director of Industries and Commerce is the ERO for the Bussy, Ouppalam, Orleanpet, Modeliarpet and Ariankuppam constituencies with the Revenue Officer-II in the Pondicherry municipality as his AERO. The Director of Adi Dravidar Welfare Department is the ERO for Embalam (SC), Nettapakkam, Kurivinatham and Bahoor (SC) with the Deputy Tashildar in Bahoor as the AERO.

The Director of Education is the ERO for Nellithope, Ozhukarai, Thattanchavady and Reddiarpalayam with the Revenue Officer-I in the Pondicherry municipality as his AERO.

The Registrar of Cooperatives at VVP Nagar is the ERO for Tirubuvanai (SC), Mannadipet, Ossudu (SC) and Villianoor with the Deputy Tashildar in the sub-taluk Office at Villianoor as the AERO.

The Regional Executive Officer (REO) at Karaikal is the ERO for all six segments in Karaikal, while the Assistant Revenue officer in the Karaikal municipality and the tashildar are the AEROs.

The REO at Mahe having two constituencies is the ERO with the deputy tashildar in the sub-taluk office as AERO. In Yanam having one constituency is the ERO with the deputy tashildar as AERO.
