FIIs net buyers in equities at Rs. 261.2 crores

MUMBAI, JULY 15. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in equities at Rs. 261.2 crores ($ 55.7 million) and net sellers in debt at Rs. 27.4 crores ($ 5.8 million) for the trading week ended July 13.

Mutual funds (MFs) were net sellers and net buyers in equities and debt at Rs. 65.97 crores and Rs. 299.16 crores respectively during the reporting week, according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

On July 13, FIIs bought equities worth Rs. 341.5 crores and offloaded them to the extent of Rs. 146.5 crores, thus recording the highest net purchases for the week at Rs. 195 crores ($ 41.5 million).

Foreign funds remained net buyers in equities on all the five days but, in case of debt transactions, they turned net sellers on July 11 (Rs. 50.1 crores - $ 10.7 million) and July 13 (Rs. 5.9 crores - $ 1.3 million).

The BSE sensitive index witnessed fairly wide fluctuations in a range between 3513.79 and 3260.68 before ending the week at 3453.99 against last weekend's close of 3305.78, a net rise of 148.21 points.

As per the data on MFs for four days ending July 12, they remained net sellers in equities on all days with the highest on July 10 at Rs. 38.57 crores and only one day (July 9 - Rs. 18.72 crores) in debt.

MFs registered their highest net purchases in debt instruments on July 10 at Rs. 164.36 crores followed by Rs. 127.71 crores on the next day, SEBI said.
