Haryana to launch AIDS education programme

CHANDIGARH, JULY 15. The Haryana Government would shortly be launching an AIDS education programme and proposes to cover 30 per cent of schools during the current year, according to the Minister of State for Health, Dr. M. L. Ranga.

He claimed that Haryana was the first State in the country to establish licensed blood banks in all the districts. It was a pioneer in introducing dental services at primary health centres. Of a total of 402 primary health centres, 100 were equipped with dental care facilities.

The Government proposes to provide dental services at other centres also. The Centre had been requested to give one-time grant of Rs. six crores. The Haryana Government would bear the recurring expenses of providing salaries for dental surgeons and dental mechanics, he added.
