Industrial Disputes Act repealed
NEW DELHI, JULY 25. Parliament has repealed the Industrial
Disputes (Banking Companies) Act as it had outlived its utility.
The Lok Sabha passed a Bill in this connection on Tuesday. The
Rajya Sabha had passed the Bill, moved by the Labour Minister,
Mr. Satyanarayan Jatiya, in April last.
The Act, which provided for modification of the decision of the
Labour Appellate Tribunal in accordance with the recommendations
of the Banking Award Commission, was repealed on the basis of
recommendations made by the commission on review of
administrative laws.
