Cong. leader shot at

BHOPAL, JULY 29. The general secretary of Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress, Mr. Inder Prajapat, today shot at and wounded another party general secretary, Mr. Manak Agarwal, suspecting him to be behind a newspaper report about his second marriage, a senior police official said.

Mr. Prajapat went to Mr. Agarwal's residence and fired two bullets at him, and then rang up the police saying he had killed Mr. Agarwal and was going to surrender, the City Superintendent of Police, Mr. Vivek Sharma, said.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was stated to be out of danger.

The State party leadership removed Mr. Prajapat from the post of general secretary and also cancelled his primary membership. Mr. Prajapat would soon be produced before a court, Mr. Sharma said.
