Chembarampakkam receives 4 cm rain

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, JULY 29. Chembarampakkam, one of the sources of water supply to the city, received a moderate rainfall on Saturday night and early Sunday.

The lake recorded 4 cm, while the Red Hills registered one cm and Poondi and Cholavaram half-a-cm each. Tamaraipakkam, where a regulator diverts the Kortalaiyar water for supply to the city through the upper supply channel, received one cm.

A beneficial aspect of the rainfall was that the Red Hills received an inflow of 40 cusecs, equivalent to a day's discharge for domestic consumption in the city. This also helped in maintaining the storage at 352 mcft.
