3 IGs promoted as ADGs
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, SEPT. 8. Three Inspectors-General of Police of Tamil
Nadu cadre were today promoted as Additional Directors-General
and posted to the units in which they are now serving.
According to police sources, the officers, all belonging to the
1975 cadre, were due for promotion. While Mr. K.V.S.
Gopalakrishnan, who is now with the Subsidiary Intelligence
Bureau, Bhopal as Joint Director has been promoted without
prejudice to his deputation to the Central agency, Mr. R.
Nataraj, who was earlier Joint Director, Vigilance and Anti-
Corruption, Chennai, will be ADGP (Special Investigation Cell) in
the DVAC. Mr. K. Vijayakumar, who was brought back to the State
from the Centre when he was an Inspector-General of BSF, to fight
the Veerappan menace, has also been promoted and posted in the
same Special Task Force at Erode.
Besides promoting the three officers, the State Government also
re-designated Mr. S. Ganapathy, a Director-General of Police, as
DGP, Training and Project Director, Tamil Nadu Police Academy
(TNPA).
It may be recalled that following the transfer of Dr. R.
Rajagopalan to the NSG, Mr. Ganapathy, who was the then Project
Director, TNPA, was asked to be incharge of training also. There
was also a criticism against the State Government that he was
holding the post of Project Director without any infrastructural
facilities.
