Mambalam civic problems to be discussed in meet
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, SEPT. 8. The demand for a foot overbridge across the
railway line, connecting West Mambalam and Ranganathan Street and
the action taken on it so far, will be discussed by area
residents at a meeting on Sunday.
Despite being centrally located, and boasting a bustling
commercial area, Mambalam is neglected in many respects, the
residents say. The meeting will be held under the aegis of the
Mambalam Exnora Innovators Club, at 29, Janakiraman Street, West
Mambalam, at 4 p.m.
Among the residents' demands are a pedestrian subway to connect
Mambalam and its western half from Ranganathan Street,
restoration of lights in the Duraiswamy Road subway currently
plunged in darkness, repairs to the bumpy and potholed roads
including on Brindavan Street and cleaning of stormwater drains.
Sustainability concepts like zero waste management and rainwater
harvesting would also be highlighted to participants, states a
release.
