Auto drivers rob cyber station employee

BANGALORE, SEPT. 8. A computer operator at the newly-established Cyber Crime Police Station was robbed of Rs. 1,000 by two autorickshaw drivers at knife-point in Koramangala Police Station limits on Friday night.

Police said that after finishing his work, Mr. T.S.Murali Mohan boarded an autorickshaw near the CoD headquarters on Palace Road.

After he reached his house at Koramangala 4th Block, he had an altercation with the autorickshaw driver over the fare. The driver and his friend, who was also said to be an autorickshaw driver, threatened Mr. Mohan with a knife and relieved him of cash. Koramangala police have registered a case.

Chain snatched: Two youth snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 10,000 from Ms. Beena (25) in Peenya Police Station limits on Friday night.

Police said the incident took place around 10 p.m. at Dasarahalli Pipeline area when Ms. Beena was returning home from market with her mother. Police have registered a case.

Granite slabs recovered: Sleuths of the Homicide and Burglary Squad of the City Crime Branch (CCB) have recovered stolen granite slabs worth Rs. two lakhs by arresting two persons on charges of theft.

Police said that the arrested, K.N.Shivalingaradhya (33) of Hunasemaranahalli, and H.Krishnappa (40) of Yelahanka, had allegedly stolen granite slabs from Saketh India Limited, a granite export firm in Hunasemaranahalli.

The duo were employees of the firm and had sold the stolen slabs at Devanahalli, Bharathinagar, Tarabanahalli, Suggatta and Baglur.

Housemaid arrested: A 14-year-old girl, who had allegedly stolen gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs. 45,000 from her employer's house in Mahalakshmi Layout Police Station limits, has been arrested by the police.

The stolen property has been recovered from the girl who was working as a maid at the house of Ms. Shwetha Anand, police said.

Sentenced: The 10th Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate Court has sentenced Richard, Nagamma and Joseph of Ejipura to one year imprisonment for assaulting an assistant sub-inspector of police while on duty.

The three, who were creating nuisance at Ejipura Main Road in Viveknagar Police Station limits on the night of July 15, 2000, were warned by the ASI, Mr. L.Boraiah. They assaulted him with a bottle, injuring him in the ear.

Arrested: Frazer Town police have arrested G.Jayasheelan of Lingarajapuram on charges of cheating.

Jayasheelan had allegedly taken Rs. two lakhs from Ms. Anusha of Coles Road promising her a job in one of the leading software or multinational companies. Police arrested Jayasheelan following a complaint by Ms. Anusha.

Schoolgirl robbed

Lakshmi, a seventh standard student of Saraswathi Vidya Kendra in Byatarayanapura, was robbed of jewellery by a man on Saturday morning.

Police said that a stranger accosted Lakshmi while she was on her way to the school on Saturday morning. He told her that she had to take a file to the school as her head mistress's son died and she was not coming to the school.

Claiming that he was uncle of Shoba, a sixth standard student, he took Lakshmi to Magadi Road. He removed Lakshmi's ornaments stating that she should not wear them while seeing a body.

He took the ornaments pretending to put them in her bag and ran away. The girl returned home and told her parents about the incident. Following a complaint by Lakshmi's father, Mr. Krishnappa, a car driver, Byatarayanapura police have registered a case.
