Amanjot, Megha to spearhead Indian challenge
CHENNAI, SEPT. 15. Amanjot Singh in boys section and Megha
Vakharia in girls will lead the Indian challenge in the ITF world
junior under-18 tennis championship which is to be held at the
SDAT Nungambakkam Stadium from September 17 to 22. Spearheading
the overseas challenge will be Dalodom Anuwat (boys) and Pachaya
Laosirichon (girls) (both from Thailand). Sania Mirza's entry has
been received for the doubles event.
Apart from India, players from Switzerland, Thailand, Indonesia,
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan are taking part in the
tournament. In the boys section, Edvin Gerard of the United
States has pulled out of the tournament.
In the boys and girls singles main draw, sixty four players will
compete, which includes 48 direct entries, 8 wild cards and 8
qualifiers. Doubles will be held under a 32-main draw. There will
be no qualifying matches on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in the final qualifying round held today, Nischendran
of Sri Lanka entered the main draw with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 win
over India's Inder Deep Mitra.
