Taliban threats resented
Islamabad, Sept. 17. The Taliban Ambassador in Pakistan, Mullah Abdul Saleem Zaeef, has said that if Pakistan were to provide any logistical support to the U.S. in possible strikes against Afghanistan, the Taliban would deem it an unfriendly act and act accordingly. His remarks have provoked an angry reaction from the Pakistan Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdul Sattar. In an interview to the CNN the Minister has said that Islamabad has taken `very serious note' of these threats.

We want Osama dead or alive: Bush
Washington, Sept. 17. Invoking the rough justice of the American frontier, the U.S. President, Mr. George W. Bush, said today that the United States wanted Osama Bin laden, the suspected mastermind of the September 11 terror attacks on New York and Washington, brought to justice, ``dead or alive''.

'Reports on Pak. conditions false'
New Delhi, Sept. 17. Pakistan had not conveyed to Washington that it wanted India and Israel out of an international coalition against terrorism. This was conveyed to the Union Home Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani, by the U.S. Ambassador to India, Mr. Robert Blackwill, while responding to India's concerns.

NATO split on joining U.S. action
Brussels, Sept. 17. Despite committing themselves to go to its aid in the wake of last week's attacks, the U.S. allies in NATO are split on whether to take part militarily in any U.S. reprisals.

9 policemen killed
Handwara, Sept. 17. Nine police personnel, three of them Assistant Sub-Inspectors, were killed and eleven injured when militants of the Pakistan-based outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba, struck in this border town on Sunday night.

HC maintains Jadeja's plea
New delhi, Sept. 17. The Delhi High Court today overruled the preliminary objections of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the maintainability of Mr. Ajay Jadeja's petition challenging the five-year ban imposed on him in the wake of match-fixing allegations.
