U.S. orders deployment of warplanes in Gulf
Washington, Sept. 19. The U.S. Defense Department on Wednesday
ordered combat aircraft to begin moving to bases in the Gulf
area, the first concrete sign of preparations to retaliate for
last week's terrorist attacks, a senior defence official said.
Give concrete proof: Taliban

Russia to allies: do not join U.S.military action
Moscow, Sept. 19. Russia will not take part in any U.S. strikes
against terrorists in Afghanistan and has strongly advised its
allies in Central Asia to refrain from opening up their territory
for American forces.
Keep off, Musharraf tells India
Islamabad, Sept. 19. In one of the sharpest-ever attacks on India
since the Agra summit, the Pakistan military leader and
President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, today accused New Delhi of
attempting to take full advantage of the crisis arising out of
the terrorist attacks on the United States and said preserving
the unity and integrity of Pakistan was a primary consideration
behind his decision to extend unstinted cooperation to the U.S.
against the Taliban regime and Osama bin Laden.
Hand over Osama, U.N. tells Taliban
United Nations, Sept. 19. The United Nations Security Council
said on Tuesday it had one message for Afghanistan's Taliban
rulers: hand over the suspected terrorist, Osama bin Laden, and
close all terrorist training camps ``immediately and
unconditionally''.
India criticises Musharraf remarks
New Delhi, Sept. 19. India has taken strong exception to the
attempt by the Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, to turn
his televised address today into a tirade against New Delhi.
Missile boat for Essel World
Mumbai, Sept. 19. The Navy has handed over a decommissioned
missile boat, ex-INS Prabal, to an amusement park, Essel World,
here to convert it into a naval monument for its visitors.
Yograj Singh remanded
New Delhi, Sept. 19. A Delhi court, trying the Jessica Lal murder
case, today remanded the former cricketer, Mr. Yograj Singh, to
judicial custody after he deposed before the court following the
non-bailable warrant issued against him last week.
Virus alert
Chennai, Sept. 19. A new computer virus W32.Nimda has been
spreading rapidly across the Internet since early Wednesday and,
with its multiple spreading methods, is reportedly worse than the
Code Red worm that affected systems worldwide in July.
