Special train for funeral

NEW DELHI, OCT. 1. The Railways will run a special train on
October 3 from New Delhi to Gwalior for the benefit of those who
wish to attend the funeral of the senior Congress leader, Mr.
Madhavrao Scindia. As a mark of respect to the departed leader, a
former Railways Minister, the Railway Ministry has cancelled all
functions and celebrations for a week.
Presiding over a condolence meeting today, the Railways Minister,
Mr. Nitish Kumar, said that in the sudden and untimely death of
Mr. Scindia the country had lost an outstanding parliamentarian
and a true visionary. ``The loss is irreparable and beyond
words.''
Mr. Nitish Kumar said his was the golden era of Indian Railways.
Mr. Scindia's tenure witnessed large scale modernisation,
introduction of superfast trains such as the Shatabdi,
computerised passenger reservation system and new trends in
catering on board express trains.
