Destroy Pak. terrorist camps: Khurana
By Our Staff Correspondent
RAIPUR, OCT. 16. The Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president, Mr.
Madan Lal Khurana, today said India should strike at the
terrorist camps in Pakistan. Addressing a press conference here
after the executive meeting of the party State unit, Mr. Khurana
said if the U.S. could declare a war on Afghanistan following
terrorist attacks on September 11, in waging a war on Pakistan,
India was justified since it had been suffering a proxy war for
the past two decades. ``The attack on the J&K Assembly on October
1 was a golden chance for India to take action and such
opportunities come rarely in history,'' he said.
When asked whether Monday's attacks on Pakistani outposts were an
indication of what was to follow, Mr. Khurana said the Army's was
a strategic decision taken by the Centre. A war against Pakistan
was not his party's stand but the sentiment of the common man.
The issue would be taken up at the Central executive working
committee meeting in Amritsar on November 2, 3 and 4.
India would not and should not depend on the U.S. for combating
terrorism or resolving the Kashmir issue, Mr. Khurana said. It
was a bilateral issue and would be sorted out by the two
countries.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee's visit to
Chhatisgarh had been postponed to the last week of November. The
BJP had invited him to Raipur to attend the foundation day
celebrations of Chhatisgarh on November 1. However, since there
was no formal invitation from the Chief Minister, Mr. Vajpayee's
trip had been rescheduled.
