Concerts for world peace
MUSICIAN AND composer Chitraveena N. Ravikiran presented two
special concerts in Atlanta and Washington DC in the U.S. on
October 20 and 21 respectively as a prayer for all those who have
suffered since the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and
Washington and similar attacks in Kashmir, India. The concerts
were intended to create public awareness regarding the various
ramifications of these negative acts across the globe.
The other main objectives of these shows were: To get all
likeminded citizens of the world together for the cause of
Positive Progressive Peace; it is a worldwide call for all those
who believe in constructive action and join hands to combat
destructive forces. It is not enough to depend on Governments and
the Army for this purpose; it is no longer a virtue to be good.
It is a necessity; it is also an appeal to all religious
fundamentalists to weed out hate in any form and remind that the
core of every religion is love; it is an appeal to governments
the world over to go beyond national/ religious/ racial frontiers
and tackle destructive forces as a common evil and problem
against humanity; Nairobi. An appeal to all major producers of
films, toys and software to make a sincere attempt to reduce if
not eliminate the mega-doses of violence An appeal to the media
to maintain a balance between positive and negative news and
events in order to keep the public perspectives in equilibrium.
And finally an appeal to my Muslim brethren. Please stand up for
the cause of the true values of your religion - love and peace. A
Jehad against innocents is a Jehad against one's own conscience.
