CM being audacious: VS
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 8. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. V.
S. Achuthanandan, has accused the Chief Minister, Mr. A. K.
Antony, of being audacious on many an issue.
``It's the language of bloated ego that one hears from the Chief
Minister,'' Mr. Achuthanandan said when asked to comment on the
transfer of police officers in connection with the arrest of the
Kozhikode DCC chief and his (Mr. Antony's) subsequent remarks on
the issue.
Mr. Achuthanandan said it was clear to all that the police
officers were transferred in the light of strident protest from
different quarters. Mr. Antony, he said, should have shown the
honesty to admit it. His haughty response to criticism was in
continuation of his stand in the Assembly, the Leader of the
Opposition said.
Asked whether there was any move so far to resolve the stalemate
in the Assembly, Mr. Achuthanandan replied in the negative. The
Opposition, he said, would offer cooperation if the Government
sought it.
On the Speaker, Mr. Vakkom Purushothaman's reported remark that
legislators who disrupt proceedings should be imprisoned, he said
it reflected the Speaker's perception of power and its use.
