Lexicon on Madhwa philosophy released

By Our Staff Correspondent

RAICHUR APRIL 11. Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji of Sri Pejawar Math, has said that the ''Sriharikathamrutasara'' is an extraordinary work of Jagannatha Dasaru, who lived in 17th Century in Manvi in Raichur District.

Releasing ''Sriharikathamrutasara Darpana,'' a dictionary on Sriharikathamrutasara, written by Diddigi Jagannatha Rao Kulkarni of Raichur, at a function in Manvi on Wednesday, jointly organised by the Brahmina Samaja and Arya Vysya Samaja of Manvi, he said that Sri Jagannatha Dasa was a noted scholar in Sanskrit and Kannada, who had written many books on the Madhwa philosophy in both languages.

He said Jagannatha Das had written Sriharikathamrutasara in simple Kannada, which contained hymns, facets of Madhwa philosophy, and on themes concerning life.

It was a replica of ''Nyayasudha'' and was written with to teach and promote Madhwa philosophy, he added.

Praising the efforts of Mr. Kulkarni in bringing out a dictionary on ''Sriharikathamrutasara,'' the Swamiji said that Mr. Kulkarni had done remarkable work in compiling a dictionary that provided meaning to difficult words and contained explanations on themes.

It was a useful lexicon which would help to understand the meaning of difficult words while chanting the ''Sriharikathamrutasara.''

N.S.Bose Raju, Manvi MLA and Chairman of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Development Board, who had provided financial assistance in bringing out the ''Sriharikathamrutasara Darpana,'' presided over the function.

Vasudevacharya, a priest of the Sri Jagannatha Dasa Temple, Krishnamurthy Acharya of Sri Narayanateertha Ashram, Mohammed Rafi, President, and Muthuraj Setty, Vice-President, of the Manvi town municipality, and Hampaiah Naik, Chairman of the Manvi APMC, were present.

Mr.Kulkarni proposed a vote of thanks.
