Tributes paid to Nehru

NEW DELHI MAY 27. The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee today held a commemorative meeting at its office in the Capital and paid floral tributes to the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 39th death anniversary.

Hundreds of party workers, led by the DPCC chief, Subhash Chopra, and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Recalling the selfless service rendered by the Nehru family during the freedom struggle and in the post-Independence era, Mr. Chopra said Panditji was the architect of modern India and his contributions in the development of the nation cannot be described in words.

It was Nehruji who quit an affluent lifestyle to plunge into the rough and tough world of freedom movement at the clarion call of Mahatma Gandhi.
