Football
Tirunelveli exhibited good teamwork and there was good rapport between the attackers and defence. The defence was solid with right stopper Amala Francis Nova being outstanding. Tirunelveli had a slight edge in the first session, but it wasted two good chances, one by Bright and the other by Devadasan. Tiruvallur also had a good chance of taking the lead just before half time. But Tirunelveli goalkeeper Rajesh William brought off a good save from Anandkumar's powerful left footer. In the second session, Tirunelveli played aggressively and opened the account in the 50th minute. Off a free kick taken by Sherin from near the centre, the ball landed near the goal as Leva Prasad headed home nicely as the ball bounced. A penalty was awarded to Tirunelveli by referee Sankar in the 65th minute for Jeyaseelan of Tiruvallur striking Bright inside the box and Amala Francis Nova, who took the spot kick, converted the same for the second goal. Bright completed the tally almost at the call of the final whistle off a centre from Ramkumar. B.T. Bangera, President, Madurai District Football Association presided. T.K. Rajendran, Inspector General of Police, Southern Zone gave away the prizes. T.R. Govindarajan, Secretary, TFA welcomed the gathering. Sadacharam, Secretary, MDFA proposed a vote of thanks.
